Hiya! My name is Natalie and I am a Senior Digital Producer here at Flume.
So – how did I get here?
It’s been a bit of a ride! I originally started my Bachelor of Communication Studies with keen focus on achieving my goal of becoming a radio presenter.
However, after a couple of tries on the mic, I quickly realized that it really wasn’t my thing! Thankfully, I found an affinity with my Advertising papers instead, and finished my degree, bright eyed, bushy tailed, and ready to enter the Advertising world.
Fate had other plans again, and instead I found a brand and corporate communications agency called Saturday, who took me on as an Account Executive. Through my time at Saturday I was introduced to the world of brand, and how critically important it can be to a businesses’ success, and building meaningful engagements with customers, which sparked a keen interest in the concept of customer experience.
After a few years, it was time for a change – I was hungry for a new challenge. I’d worked with the Flume team (then Hatch) on a few client projects, and saw they were advertising for a new Account Manager.
I thought to myself – “Web, how hard could it be?” and took the plunge.
I’ve now been with the Flume team for over two years, and can safely say that I was wholly unprepared for the learning curve required for managing websites – but it was exactly the challenge I was looking for!
The really awesome thing about working with the tight-knit team here, is that we all wear many different hats, and we’re all deeply involved in the work we are delivering. I am constantly learning, not just about websites and functionality, but also our client’s businesses, which I find very rewarding.
I think that this quote sums it up quite nicely -
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
– Benjamin Franklin
I am always looking to learn new skills, and expand my existing ones, and being a part of the Flume team sure makes that happen.
Some stuff about me…
I am not much of a sharer – I like to keep my cards close to my chest. But, here’s a few things you may be interested to learn about me –
Name of the Wind – Patrick Rothfuss
Wise Man’s Fear – Patrick Rothfuss
The entire Harry Potter series (thanks to my formative teen years)
Where the Crawdads Sing – Delia Owens
Well, that’s more than enough sharing from me, for now at least! I hope you found this entertaining, and this provided a bit of an insight into what makes me tick.
